Personalized Visit
We invite you to visit the Furman campus and see for yourself why Furman's engaged environment is unique, stimulating and nurturing. Music visits are coordinated through the Admissions Welcome
Center under the guidance of Brittney Joyce and assisted by Furman's
Fine Arts Recruiter, Marta Lanier. Visit the
Admissions web site or call 864-294-2236 for more details.
Furman Music Visit: For a high school junior or senior considering a music major, the
typical music portion of your visit includes ensemble observation, class
observation and a 20 minute conversation with a faculty member in your
performance area. Non-majors and high school sophomores are welcome to observe ensemble rehearsals. (Yes - our ensembles are open to non-majors!) Students
considering a performance degree may request a sample lesson which
typically involves a 30 minute lesson/conversation.
Summer 2012
While summer is a very active time for our building - we run five music camps/institutes and host a summer concert series - access to music faculty is possible, though limited by who is in town and available at the time of your visit. The Admissions Welcome Center will aid you in determining faculty availability. There are no Furman music rehearsals or classes available for observation during the summer.

When is the best time to visit? Weekdays during the school year. Which week day depends on the class or ensemble you wish to observe.
Please give us at least two weeks notice if requesting a faculty conversation. You may also want to coordinate your visit with a
special evening performance. If feasible, it is best to visit PRIOR to your audition since faculty 'free' time during the audition weekend is very limited. Personal contact with a faculty member prior to the audition weekend permits you, and us, to make a good first impression within a more relaxed environment.
Visiting after your audition for one more look? Great! Welcome back! Feel free to contact the faculty member in your performance area directly for a follow-up appointment. Performance majors may request a sample lesson. Questions about your application status? Contact our Fine Arts Recruiter
Marta Lanier at 864-294-3405.
