The Health Sciences department’s primary mission is to fulfill an integral and important role in helping the institution achieve its purpose of developing the whole person.
Furman’s Health Sciences program prepares students for health-related careers and gives them the foundation required to be accepted at top graduate schools, medical schools and physical and occupational therapy programs. Small classes, enthusiastic professors, well-equipped research facilities and Furman’s commitment to a liberal-arts approach to learning are the linchpins for the program. Students work with faculty in excellent human performance laboratories, secure internships with local health care providers, and promote wellness and healthy lifestyles for the campus and the wider Greenville community.
