Chris Colvin joined the Economics department as an adjunct faculty member in 2010 and teaches statistics. Colvin is also a member of the Furman Undergraduate Evening Studies (UES) faculty, where he has taught both introductory statistics and regression analysis. Colvin works full time as Furman's Associate Athletics Director for Administration. He is a member of President's Council, the SHARP Committee, the Substance Abuse Coalition, and several other campus committees.

Statistics

Introduction to applied probability and statistics. Topics include: tabular and graphical presentation of data; descriptive measures of central tendency, dispersion, and location; probability and probability distributions (discrete and continuous); inferential statistics and hypothesis testing; bivariate analysis (qualitative and quantitative), including crosstabulation, covariance, correlation, and simple linear regression. Transfer credit will not be awarded until students pass an equivalency exam administered by the department. Students cannot receive credit for this course and MTH-241.

Empirical Methods in Economics

Introduction to the methods of preparing and analyzing data for economic research. Students become familiar with the basic empirical methods used by economists, particularly regression analysis. Computer software packages used extensively.
