Studying economics at Furman goes beyond classroom lectures and research projects. We offer students exciting opportunities to put their quantitative and analytical skills to use through scholarly communication with our study away and May Experience programs.

May Experience

We often offer a popular course on the Federal Reserve and Monetary Policy. You'll learn which data the Fed uses to make monetary decisions and how you can obtain and analyze that data. You'll also put that knowledge to work in a simulation that requires you to actually make those decisions yourself. This course usually includes a field trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Other May Experience courses may also be available. Find a May Experience course.

Study away

The Economics department at Furman encourages students to participate in study away programs, whether led by an economist or a faculty member from another department. Our faculty have recently led study away programs in Brussels, Edinburgh, and Africa, and our students have studied in Chile, China, France, Guatemala, India, Italy, and Spain. Find a trip.
