The Department of Economics offers majors in Economics and Mathematics-Economics (jointly with the Department of Mathematics), graduating between twenty and thirty students per year. In addition, it offers courses in the Environmental Studies concentration, Women's Studies concentration, Poverty Studies concentration, Urban Studies major, and Asian Studies major. Students who major in Business Administration or Accounting take two to six courses in economics to fulfill their major requirements.
About one fourth of our graduates enter law school immediately after graduation. Approximately one fourth to one third of our graduates enter the financial industry (including real estate, insurance, banking, finance, and investments). The remaining students pursue a wide variety of educational and occupational endeavors, including business, consulting, actuarial science, public policy, urban planning, hospital administration, environmental management, and international development. Students may request to see our "jobs book," which contains job information for many of our economics alumni.
