Use of Student Employees
Although Chairs are responsible for hiring, training and supervising student assistants who function as departmental staff members, department assistants typically perform this duty. The Student Employment Office can supply information regarding the request for student workers, time sheets, etc. Currently, departments are urged to consider students who are eligible for federal work-study funds for these positions; departments must submit a request explaining their special needs in order to hire non work-study students.
