Consulting and Outside Employment
Policy 161.2 states that “Faculty members may be retained by
individuals, industry, research organizations, or other agencies and
institutions for consulting and other professional services when such
activities do not detract from their duties as faculty members.”
Consulting and outside employment must have the approval of the
appropriate department chair and the Dean of the Faculty. Such
activities must not encroach upon the faculty member's duties at Furman.
