Advising
The chair should keep track of how many advisees are assigned to each faculty member and work to ensure that advisees are distributed equitably. Current advising assignments can be obtained from the office of the Assistant Academic Dean (AAD). The chair should work with academic advisors and the office of the AAD to reassign advisees when faculty members go on leave, study away, or sabbatical. The Assistant Academic Dean’s office will send a list of advisees who need to be reassigned, and the chair should alert the AAD’s office when faculty plan to be away from campus for extended periods of time.
The department chair may sign forms from the Registrar’s Office for a student if the academic advisor is unavailable.
