Our work in the Collaborative for Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) centers on facilitating existing partnerships between the community and the academic program and fostering the development of new collaborations that enhance student learning (through teaching and research) and contribute to the greater good. These partnerships often take place within courses but also extend beyond semester boundaries to include interdisciplinary teams of faculty, community members, and students. These collaborations provide the opportunity for students, faculty, and community partners to learn from one another, address community needs, and leverage community assets and expertise.
The Furman Advantage provides opportunities for students to participate in meaningful and in-depth learning experiences that contribute to a thriving community. Explore student opportunities.
