The Business and Accounting Department strongly encourages students to participate in an internship. It is extremely important to take advantage of this invaluable opportunity to gain practical, "real-world" experience before entering the job market. The Internship Program Director, Diane Iseminger, in Trone Center 209, Office of Undergraduate Research and Internships, works with students to find internships that relate to their areas of interest. Ms. Iseminger can be reached via phone at 864.294.2006 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For full-time summer internships, competitive funding programs exist in both the department (the Hollingsworth Intern Fellows) and at the university level (the Summer Research Fellows). In addition, students may receive academic credit as part of the BUS 503 "individualized internship."
Links to internship sites can be found on the Internship Office web page under Internship Opportunities. Students are notified of companies and organizations interested in Furman student interns via e-mail announcements and through the databases available in the Internship Office.
In the recent past, students have obtained internships with companies such as:
- BMW Manufacturing Corporation
- Merrill Lynch
- Morgan Stanley
- American Express Financial Services
- Spinx Oil
- Datastream, Inc.
- Smith Barney
- Milliken & Co.
- McKinley, Cooper & Co.
- Flour Global Services
- Summit Bank
- Prudential Securities

Each declared Business Administration or Accounting major will regularly receive emails from the department informing the student of new business and accounting-related internship opportunities as they become available.
