Meet Megan

Furman was the right fit for me. My dad was a professor growing up, and I got used to the idea of going to a small school. I wanted to have that sense of community, and wanted to have professors who were invested in me.

Life as a biology major

  • Why did you decide to come to Furman?

Furman was the right fit for me. My dad was a professor growing up, and I got used to the idea of going to a small school. I wanted to have that sense of community, and wanted to have professors who were invested in me.

  • Why did you decide to be a biology major?

Process of elimination. My dad is a chemist, and I always used to say that I didn't want to do something science related. But I ended up really liking biology. I did research with Dr. Jason Rawlings in immunology.

  • Best experience in the department:

Doing research over the summer and getting to see hands on what we're capable of doing. This summer, we're going to a conference in Honolulu to present our work. So I'm really excited.

  • Favorite professor:

      Dr. Jason Rawlings

  • Internship experience:

I shadow at the hospitals in Greenville during the school year. It's a great experience because I can follow doctors in different department, and see which field interests me.
