Mrs. Nancy Georgiev

Assistant Director, Office for Study Away and International Education

B.Mus. in Music Performance and German, DePaw University
M.A. in International Education, School for International Training (ongoing)

Mrs. Georgiev draws heavily on her own experiences as a foreigner and language learner while working with Furman students. She studied abroad in Germany, participated in a May X in Japan, and interned in Austria during her undergraduate studies at a liberal arts college similar to Furman. Mrs. Georgiev's experiences abroad led her to choose a career in international education to support the study of other cultures, languages and peoples.  She speaks fluent German and Bulgarian, which she learned as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria where she taught English and wrote grant proposals for a local NGO.  Mrs. Georgiev has experience advising students on study away, working with international students and scholars, and helping faculty design and implement study away programs. What she enjoys most about her job is learning about the world through different people’s perspectives.
