If you complete all 4 years of Army ROTC as a Contracted Cadet, you will be offered a Commission into the Army, weather that is serving on Active Duty, in the Army Reserves or in the National Guard. The commitment for Active Duty is serving 4 years on Active Duty where that is your job, 24/7 and 4 years of IRR (Individual Ready Reserve). The IRR is a category of the Ready Reserve of the Reserve Component of the Armed Forces of the United States composed of former active duty or reserve military personnel. If you Commission into the Army Reserves or the National Guard, you will serve 6 years in a drilling status (1 weekend a month, 2 weeks a year) and 2 years in the IRR.
