DR. CHERRY RECEIVES LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Spanish professor Dr. Maurice Cherry was named the recipient
of the South Carolina Foreign Language Teachers Association Lifetime
Achievement award. Dr. Cherry (shown here with Margaret Young,
Executive Director of SCFLTA) received his award at
the February 2012 SCFLTA Conference.
DR. KEARNS RECEIVES RECOGNITION FOR SERVICE LEARNING
Dr. Sofia Kearns, Professor of Spanish, has become a leader at Furman in
the integration of service learning with academics. Her service
learning project entitled "TESOL
support through a Latin American civilization class (Spanish 250)" was
been selected as the winner of the SC Commission on Higher Education
Service Learning Award for 2010 in the Independent Colleges category.
