As a part of Furman’s commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement in learning, CTL together with the Faculty Development Committee is pleased to announce the availability of grant funds for the improvement, exploration and scholarship of teaching and learning. These grants are designed to support faculty in their explorations and growth as scholarly teachers and foster innovative projects that promote new approaches to teaching and learning in Furman courses.
Funding Cycles: Teaching Development Grants will be considered under a rolling grant process, allowing submissions as opportunities present themselves to faculty.
Funding Process: Proposals should be submitted online. Grant proposals will be reviewed by the Faculty Development Committee and awarded in a timely manner. Grant awards will be distributed and administered through CTL, which will maintain a record of submitted and funded grants as well as reports on grant-funded activities and outcomes.
Funding Guidelines: Proposals should clearly indicate the purpose of the grant activities and how the funding will be used to enhance the teaching/learning experience (course design/redesign, development of faculty pedagogy/teaching knowledge, etc.). All proposals should include a detailed itemized budget and a completion and reporting date. Grant award amount recommendations are based upon a combination of demand, justification and need.
