Jean Schwab StudioLab Coordinator |
Office: 002 - Lower Level (in the StudioLab) James B. Duke Library 864.294.2453 |
As the StudioLab Coordinator, Jean oversees all things
StudioLab—from the faculty-nominated student Consultants to the computers and other equipment the StudioLab keeps on hand to support students in their academic endeavors. Jean, a Furman graduate, decided to blaze new trails when she chose to major in Anthropology several years before there was an official major available (she made use of Furman's
Individualized Curriculum Program to do so). She is ecstatic that Furman now
offers a full-fledged major in Anthropology.
In addition to the B.A. Jean earned at Furman, she also earned her M.A.from the University of South Carolina (Columbia) in Anthropology with an emphasis in historic archaeology. Her anthropological background means she is obsessed with human behavior and cultural studies, and her studies in historic archaeology mean she feels deeply uneasy when the artifacts of daily life become divorced from their socio-cultural context. On a personal note, Jean enjoys drawing to express her creative side, reading to escape it, and aspires to be a knitter.
If you'd like to know more about the
StudioLab and how we can support your students in their writing and multimedia endeavors, Jean will be glad to help!
