Furman offers a wide variety of options for studying away from campus each year . Student participation is typically planned significantly in advance and frequently is competitive. Consult with the appropriate department for more information about how participation for each particular experience is determined. If you are a confirmed participant in a travel study program, you will not need to take any action concerning registration for the term of your participation. You may opt to designate courses associated with your travel study as pass-fail, consistent with the standard pass-fail policy, beginning the first day of web drop-add for all students. You will be contacted while you are away from campus about how to register for the next term. If you have any doubts about your responsibilities for advising and registration as it relates to travel study, consult with the faculty member who will act as the program coordinator for your trip or contact Academic Records.
Affiliate programs provide further opportunities for Furman students to study away from campus through partnerships with other universities all over the world. Typically, transfer credit is awarded for the successful completion of courses approved in advance by Furman and the cooperating institution.
