Fred and June Current Accounting Award
This cash award is presented each year to an outstanding graduating senior majoring in accounting who has shown high academic achievement, has demonstrated leadership in the Furman Accounting Society, and who has actively participated in other campus organizations that have a primary goal of serving others. The accounting faculty selects the recipient. Professor Current taught accounting at Furman from 1979 until his retirement in 1999 and was the recipient of teaching and advising awards. Mrs. Current earned her baccalaureate degree from Furman with a major in accounting.

Lawrence Kessler Award for Excellence in Accounting
The Lawrence Kessler Award for Excellence in Accounting is given in memory of Dr. Larry Kessler, Professor of Accounting at Furman University from 1980-2005. This award, endowed by generous gifts from the Kessler family, friends, and colleagues, is given annually to a rising senior to offset the recipient’s educational expenses. The award is presented to the accounting student who demonstrates the qualities most cherished by Dr. Kessler; superior academic performance, integrity, and a proven work ethic.
