Insurance and Billing

As a college student you're probably on a tight budget. That's why we offer most of our health services free to all current, undergraduate students. Come in for a free check-up, some over-the-counter medicine, or a referral. If we do have to charge you for tests or injections, we try to keep the price low.

Insurance

You are strongle recommended to have health insurance to study at Furman. If your family’s insurance provider doesn’t cover you while you’re at school, we recommend purchasing insurance from United Healthcare. If you’re an international student you’ll be automatically enrolled in the VISIT International Health Insurance Plan. Contact the Office for Study Away and International Education at 864.294.3274 for more information.

Billing

Most of our services are free to current students. However, there are some tests and injections that we charge for.  Students who fail to pay for these services will have a flag placed on their records. While the flag is in place you won’t be able to register, be readmitted to the university, or access your transcripts. For billing questions please contact the Student Health Services office between the hours of  9am-5pm.
