Furman is a charter participant of the
Sustainability Tracking Assessment Ratings System. STARS is a voluntary self-reporting system that helps schools evaluate their campus sustainability in three categories: Education and Research, Operations, and Planning, Administration and Engagement. The school earned a silver rating in its initial
submission in January 2011. The publicly available report includes details of Furman’s progress across all areas, ranging from the percentage of courses focused on or related to sustainability to our recycling rate to the role of sustainability in our investment practices and policies.
