Furman is consistently recognized in national programs as a leader in building sustainable college campuses. In addition to being certified as a
Tree Campus USA school since 2008, Furman is consistently profiled in the
Princeton Review’s Guide to Green Colleges and has been named an overall Sustainability leader and a Campus Sustainability leader in the
College Sustainability Report Card. In 2009, in recognition of Furman's innovative sustainability master plan and long-term sustainability vision, the university was recognized as a
Campus Sustainability Leader by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and as a
Climate Champion by Clean Air-Cool Planet.
