Furman Farm

The Furman Farm is a ¼ acre garden located beside the Cliffs Cottage and the Furman Lake.  A wide variety of produce is grown throughout the year using sustainable agricultural practices such as crop rotations, composting, drip lines, natural fertilizers, and integrated pest management.

Fresh produce may be purchased through the Randy BlackWell Farm Stand or Furman Farm Community Supported Agriculture Program.

Visit the Randy Blackwell Farm Stand on Thursdays from 3:30- 5:30 p.m. to purchase a variety of freshly picked seasonal produce.

Join the Furman Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program to receive a bag of freshly picked produce each week.  CSA membership is $60 per month ($32 student rate).  Winter CSA bags are brimming with fresh collards, sweet potatoes, mustard greens, beets, turnips, broccoli, peppers, and cauliflower.

Crops are rotated each season to preserve nutrients in the soil and deter pests.

Scraps from the Furman Dining Hall are composted to create a nutritious soil to fertilize the plants.

Drip lines water plants at the root level.  This conserves water by minimizing run-off and evaporation.

Natural fertilizers and pesticides are used to maintain a healthy ecosystem.

Volunteer opportunities are available.  Contact the Furman Farm for more information.
