Herring Center for Continuing Education

The Herring Center for Continuing Education held its official dedication on October 18, 2012. This spectacular two-story, 23,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility is located adjacent to the Younts Conference Center and across from Timmons Arena.

The $6.4 million multi-use center houses Furman’s Division of Continuing Education, including offices of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), Bridges to a Brighter Future, the Center for Corporate and Professional Development, Learning for You, and Undergraduate Evening Studies, which collectively serves over 3,000 upstate business and community members annually.

This beautiful new building will bring all five divisions of Furman's Division of Continuing Education under one roof. Continuing Ed serves more than 3,000 Upstate community members annually via five distinct programs:

The naming gift for the Herring Center for Continuing Education was provided by Furman University graduates Sarah '66 and Gordon '65 Herring of Greenville, generous and longtime donors to the university.

Over 675 additional donors contributed the remaining portion of the funds needed to complete the facility. $3.7 million of the construction costs of the building was raised by members of OLLI @ Furman.

"On behalf of Furman University, I want to offer a hearty 'Thank You' for the vision and commitment of so many people in making the dream of a "home of our own" for Continuing Education a reality. The Herring Center for Continuing Education is a place where young dreams meet ageless wisdom, and learning will never retire."
