Rod Smolla to be Introduced as Furman's 11th President Tuesday at 2 P.M.

GREENVILLE, S.C.—Furman University will hold a news conference Tuesday, Dec. 15 to introduce Rodney A. Smolla as the university’s 11th president.
The announcement will take place at 2 p.m. in Shaw Hall of the Younts Conference Center. There will be a reception following the announcement, and those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet Rod Smolla and his family.
Smolla is Dean and Roy L. Steinheimer Professor of Law at Washington and Lee School of Law. He previously served as Dean and Allen Professor at the University of Richmond School of Law and, prior to that, Director of the Institute of Bill of Rights Law at the College of William and Mary. He is a 1975 graduate of Yale University, and graduated first in his class from Duke Law School in 1978.
Smolla will succeed Dr. David Shi, who will retire as Furman’s 10th president on June 30, 2010.
