America celebrated another Independence Day this week, and Furman University president emeritus David Shi says it’s worth remembering that Americans both won and lost the Revolutionary war.   In an op-ed for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier this week, Shi wrote that “the struggle for independence was as much a brutal civil war fought between Americans (“Patriots” versus “Loyalists”) as it was a conventional conflict between American and British armies.”
