New Book by President Rod Smolla Gets Favorable Review by History News Network
5/18/2011
Furman University president Rod Smolla’s book, The Constitution Goes to College: Five Constitutional Ideas That Have Shaped the American University, was reviewed this week by the History News Network.
In the review, Brown University professor Luther Spoehr writes that the book is a “valuable, evenhanded guide to understanding the constitutional cat’s cradle in which American colleges and universities operate. Smolla shows that legally and constitutionally the American university is no ivory tower, and he makes a strong case that American higher education is better for that.”
