James C. Mabry IV is a Managing Director for the New York based investment banking firm of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, Inc. (KBW). He is located in Richmond, Virginia and directs the firm's southeastern U.S. activities in mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory and capital markets assignments for financial institutions.
He joined KBW in 1983 in New York as an Associate and was overseeing the firm's private equity investments when he left in 1991 to join Wheat First Securities in Richmond, Virginia. At Wheat First, he began as Managing Director responsible for the financial institutions practice. In 1994, Jim was asked to run investment banking for all industry groups. Wheat First was acquired by First Union Corporation in 1997. After the acquisition, he helped integrate and then lead the combined companies Corporate Finance departments and was a member of First Union's Capital Markets management committee. In 2000, he rejoined KBW to open the firm's office in Richmond, Virginia.
Jim has previously served or continues to serve as a Board or Foundation member for the Richmond ballet, The New Community School for dyslexic students UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) and the Powell Center for Economic Literacy. He is a faculty member at the Graduate School of Banking at Louisana State University. At Furman, Jim has been a member of the Parent's Council and the Parent Campaign Committee.
Mr. Mabry earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1979 and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1983.
Jim and his wife have one son who has graduated from Furman and a son who is currently enrolled.
