Erwin Maddrey, a native of Winston-Salem, NC, and a Greenville resident since 1971, is a 1963 graduate of Davidson College and after a two-year Army stint, graduated from the MBA program at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1966. Maddrey currently serves on the Boards of BlueCross/BlueShield of SC, Delta Apparel, Inc. and KEMET Corporation.

He went to work for Riegel Textile Corporation (now part of Mount Vernon Mills) in New York and moved to Greenville when the company moved its headquarters to Greenville. Maddrey retired from Riegel in 1983 as President, COO and Director, to start his own business.

In 1983 Maddrey co-founded Delta Woodside Industries which aggregated parts of other textile and apparel companies. He retired in 2000 as President, CEO and Director.

Maddrey has served as a Trustee of Davidson College, Virginia Episcopal School, and the SC Independent Colleges & Universities, and has served as President of the Alumni of UNC-Chapel Hill MBA program (now Kenan-Flagler).

Maddrey currently serves as Chair of the Greater Greenville Forum, Chairman of the SC Governor's School of the Arts Foundation, and is a Member of the Boards of Public Education Partners, Upstate Forever, and Ten at the Top. He has served on the Boards of the Urban League of the Upstate, Palmetto Project, Greenville County Museum of Art, Foundation for Independent Higher Education and the Business Foundation of NC.

He and his wife, Nancy, reside in Greenville, SC and have two sons and five grandchildren.
