Scholarships and aid

We offer a number of talent-based scholarships to incoming freshmen and college transfer students as part of our fine arts initiative, a $2 million endowment for the arts. Though priority is given to students intending to major in theatre arts, talented non-majors are eligible for a limited number of participation scholarships. Scholarships are renewable annually if academic and major criteria are maintained. Notification of scholarship award or of acceptance as an intended major is contingent upon admission to Furman.

Apply for our scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a scholarship, complete our application and be prepared to audition and interview before a committee in the fall or the spring. As a major, you must meet all the major requirements and enroll in theatre classes your freshman year. As a non-major, you must commit to participating in one performance a year and take one theatre class per semester. All students must have a 3.0 grade point average in their theatre arts classes and a 2.0 cumulative average to renew their scholarships. Apply now.

Apply for aid

To be considered for any need-based financial assistance, you must complete the CSS Profile and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial aid packages usually have a combination of Furman need-based grants and/or Merit-based Scholarships, federal/state grants and loans, and work-study. Be sure to review the deadlines for these forms.

Many students also apply for scholarships administered by agencies and organizations outside of Furman by using online resources like Fastweb, FinAid, and the College Board.
