Who can register?
Enrollment in summer session courses is available to all studentsadmitted as degree-seeking undergraduates at Furman. If you areinterested in enrolling for summer session but have not been admitted tothe undergraduate program you must complete a non-degree seeking student application available from Academic Records.

What courses can I take?
Plan now to speak with your advisor. They can assist you in composing alist of possible courses available in the upcoming summer session thatwill make sense for your academic goals. You must be cleared by youradvisor before you can take action on any enrollment request, electronically or otherwise, for the summer session. You may enroll forup to 12 credits (typically no more than 3 courses) during the summersession. Remember too, examine the session start and end dates closely to make sure they fit with the rest of your summer plans.

What do I need to do to register?
All students may now use the CAP (Course Adjustment Processing) toolsavailable via the ARMS menu of MyFurman to register for the summersession. Follow the instructions provided on-line to navigate your waythrough the process.

You may also use paper-based enrollment requests to get yourselfregistered for summer session. In fact, in a good number of situations(courses requiring instructor or department permission and after initialtuition invoices have been generated) this will be the only acceptablemethod. If you need or want to use this route, you should complete theenrollment request in full. Your written request is important to ensurethat we take action on your enrollment exactly as you instruct. For yourconvenience, a .pdf version of the enrollment request is available for you to print, complete, and submit.

Where do I register?
Using the CAP tools, you can register from anywhere you can sustain a connection to MyFurman. On the other hand, a paper enrollment requestmay be submitted in a variety of ways. You can deliver your requestdirectly to Academic Records in the Administration Building, Room 004.If you can't make it to campus, fax or mail your request. Reach us byfax at (864) 294-3551 or mail:

When can I register?
Your opportunity to register for summer courses begins early each spring semester. Students may use the CAP (Course Adjustment Processing) tools toregister through mid-April. We encourage you to registerbetween these two dates as seating in courses is on a first-come,first-serve basis. You should be mindful that courses can be cancelledfor lack of enrollment if we don’t know about your interest. Wetypically need to make decisions of this sort about two-to-three weeksbefore courses begin. Check out the important dates page to find out more specifics.

How do I change my schedule once I've already registered?
You can change your summer course schedule, using CAP through mid-April or a paper enrollment request, through the end of business on the day the first 10% of scheduledcourse meetings conclude. Enrollment in courses is closed at the end ofthis period for each individual course section. You are permitted towithdraw from courses through the first 50% of scheduled course meetingsfor the section in question; a "W" mark will be posted on yourpermanent academic record indicating your withdrawal.Check out the Academic Records important dates page for more details.

What about auditing, pass-no pass grading and other academic regulations?
You may enroll in courses on a zero credit basis by registering as anauditor. You can register to audit courses until the conclusion of thecourse adjustment period for each course section. A separate tuition rate has been established for auditing courses. Be sure to complete an audit request if you will avail yourself of this option.

You may also elect a pass-no pass grading optionfor selected courses that you have already registered, consistent withthe pass-no pass policy as stated in the University Catalog. Thedeadline for declaring a pass-no pass grading option in a qualifyingcourse is at the conclusion of the first 50% of its scheduled coursemeetings.

Summer session courses operate on the same academic principles as anyother instruction at Furman. Consequently, the same academic regulationsapply. Please refer to the University Catalog for more detail.
