Applying for Study Away
Thinking about Studying Away from Furman? You should check out the Study Away Timeline to review each step in the application process. Hopefully by the time you are ready to apply, you will have attended a Study Away 101 Info Session and talked with the program director or attended a program information session. The next step depends on the type of program.
For a Faculty-Led, Affiliate, or Exchange Program:
Students should apply for all Furman Faculty-led, Affiliate, and Exchange programs using
Horizons, Furman's online study away application program. Program descriptions, application deadlines, and other information can be found on Horizons. New applicants should review the application instructions below for log in information.
For Non-Furman Programs
Students who are interested in studying away on a non-Furman program should
schedule a meeting with a Study Away Adviser. Students apply to non-Furman programs according to the provider's procedures. A leave of absence from Furman is required in order to participate in a non-Furman study away program during the semester.
If you are accepted into a non-Furman program, you will need to submit a transfer course authorization form to academic records to secure approval for courses you plan to take. You must also submit a Leave of Absence Form to the Dean's office and notify the Housing office.
