Study Away 101 Information Sessions are offered each fall to answer general questions and help prepare students for the application process. In addition, individual faculty directors typically hold information sessions for specific programs. These sessions are publicized through campus notices, and on the Study Away

Resources for Confirmed Participants
Medical/evacuation/repatriation insurance is included in all faculty-led programs traveling outside the U.S. Students planning affiliate or exchange programs should contact their program coordinator or the Office for Study Away and International Education for travel insurance options.

Study Away Timeline
Students should begin researching Study Away options and apply for
programs during the year before they plan to participate in Study Away.
September-October
Attend a Study Away 101 Session. Faculty directors also hold information sessions for specific study away programs.
Late October or early November
Programs for May Ex and the next academic year are announced.
November - January
Apply for Study Away. Consult the program director for specific
application deadlines, as dates vary by program and destination.
Students can schedule a meeting with a Study Away Adviser for assistance in selecting a program.
January-February
Study Away program directors notify students that have been accepted.
Students submit confirmation materials and a deposit for their Study
Away program.
February until Departure
Students attend pre-departure meetings, complete post-acceptance steps in Horizons, and prepare to Study Away from Furman.
