Spring 2009
My Lunacy
Suddenly, the wind breathes
And there is life in everything.
The leaves have the energy to rattle,
And the shoots of willows
Cast fingers across my path.
I am thankful to escape the tedium
Of merger reports
And my flickering desk lamp.
I need to stamp out the dizziness
In little footprints
Away from my apartment.
I am warm from gin.
The moon coats the ground
In milky light,
Which the trees make dance.
I stray to the middle of an unlit park
Because I have not been there before.
A siren wails in the distance.
I take a seat on the grass
And stretch out my limbs.
I get the sudden urge to take off my clothes
And run naked for the sake of it.
I do this. Don't tell.
