• The Communication Studies selection committee has named Brittany Smalls the 2011 recipient of the SCBA Senior Leadership Award. Brittany will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the South Carolina Broadcasters Association. Congratulations to Brittany for her winning application and on her fine work in broadcast journalism!

  • Alexandra Bimonte, a Communication Studies major, will be interning with the marketing department for mtvU in New York City this summer for 10 weeks.  mtvU is responsible for all marketing initiatives for mtvU and also heads up many MTV, MTV2, Tr3s, and Hits and Jams initiatives.  This ranges from consumer marketing and event marketing, to music marketing and affiliate marketing.  Alexandra's internship position will include tasks such as research, coordinating and executing various elements of major projects, and on-site project management.
  • Caroline Vereen will be presenting her paper "The Character of Artemis Ephesia" at the Sunoikisis Undergraduate Research Symposium, March 26 -28 in Washington, DC. Caroline's paper originated in the Furman study-away program in Turkey led by Dr. Shelly Matthews (Religion), Dr. Alfons Teipen (Religion) and Dr. Richard Letteri Communication Studies).
